Birth Doula || Mama Circles

Los Angeles, CA

Feel grounded, empowered and informed through birth and postpartum. Let’s navigate this journey together with heart and wisdom — yours and mine.

Hi, I’m Ali Carr, a birth doula, mama of 3 girls in Los Angeles, CA.

MEET YOUR DOULA

Moving through rites of passage, like pregnancy, birth and parenthood, are some of the most sacred journeys we experience in life. But, they often don’t feel as special as they we’d like thanks to endless to-dos, rushed appointments, and loads of shoulds and advice.

Hiring a doula creates the space to honor the depth of your experience — including time to connect with yourself and your baby — while also allowing you to prepare for birth from a practical standpoint. Our time together will feel spacious, informative, calming, connected, educational and preparatory for what’s to come.

As your birth doula, I offer you (and your partner, when applicable) emotional and physical support anchored in both evidence and ancient wisdom. Together, we’ll aim towards what matters most to you in birth while also building tools to help you navigate the unknown of labor with resilience and trust.

My goal is to be a grounded, caring, knowledgeable buoy of support in pregnancy and your labor process — to let you flow like the beautiful river you are while guiding you and helping you feel safe.

“All of the work we did together gave us the necessary grounding and preparation. As we drove to the hospital, we felt prepared for what we about to go through — physically and spiritually. During the birth, Ali was right there with us — helping us ask the right questions, setting a pace, and creating an environment of care and calm. She was wholly a part of our team while also giving us our own intimate space too as a couple.”

Birth Doula Support

Rewoven: Postpartum Circles for Mamas

“Thank you for your kindness, your presence, and your magic touch during such a raw and special time. You helped me feel supported, seen, and cared for, and that made all the difference.” — Stephanie B. (Westchester, CA; birthed at UCLA Santa Monica)

Wild Grace Baby Gatherings

As a community offering to all of my clients, included in my birth doula packages, I host a seasonal gathering for those who have birthed and welcome you to my home in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Building community is an important part of the support web as we enter early parenthood and I am honored to bring everyone together and hold that space.

The Wild Grace Philosophy

I believe we, as humans, have an animal sense when it comes to birth. It is in our bodies. But, in today’s society, where we praise structure, order and control over the wilderness that is birth, we have become detached from our instinctual knowing — or simply, we don’t know how to trust it.

My work is to help you connect back to your body, so that you know how to listen when birth tells you what it needs. And to help you tap into your intuition — the inner voice that knows exactly what’s right for each of us.

Both instincts and intuition can help us move through the journey of birth and parenthood from a place of alignment and intention, helping us feel confident and clear (and also okay when we aren’t confident and clear). And the transformative journey can truly feel meaningful. This is true whether you birth at home in a hospital birth and have a vaginal birth or a cesarean birth. All are welcome here.

Whether I work with you as a doula, you join our Mama Circles, your instincts and inner knowing will be nurtured and expanded. You are the expert in your own life. I’m here to walk alongside you in conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting or any other rite of passage to help you build tenderness, resilience to welcome the unknown with curiosity, trust and a full heart.

“Just reflecting back on our birth experience together and I'm in such awe of you. Thank you endlessly for your grace and support. Looking forward to our postpartum visit.” — Brittany A. (Mar Vista, CA; birthed at St. John’s Hospital)
