Birth Doula || Mama Circles

Los Angeles, CA

Feel grounded, empowered and held through birth and postpartum. Let’s navigate this journey together with heart and wisdom — yours and mine.

“Ali pairs knowledge and practicality with a little bit of magic. Her support during birth was imperative — especially with positioning and managing contractions. We would have had a much different experience without her support. A major game changing aspect of having her with us was helping my partner support me. She made me (and my partner) feel more safe and confident in our journey. Ali is incredible. Anyone would be lucky to have her as their doula.” — Brittany A. (Mar Vista, CA)

Hi, I’m Ali Carr, a birth doula, mama of 3 girls in Los Angeles, CA.

MEET YOUR DOULA

I am obsessed with the blooming and growth that happen when we move through big things in our lives in deep, intentional ways.

The path never looks exactly the same, and there is one constant: no one can walk that path for you. But, the beauty is you don’t have to do it unsupported.

As a doula, I offer you thoughtful, evidence-based care, centered on your needs, to support you emotionally, physically and spiritually throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

“Thank you for your kindness, your presence, and your magic touch during such a raw and special time. You helped me feel supported, seen, and cared for, and that made all the difference.” — Stephanie B. (Westchester, CA)

If an additional support person is there — like a partner and/or a parent — I’ll assist them in finding how to best support you with confidence.

We’ll work collaboratively with the rest of your birthing team to navigate any decisions that need to be made in an intentional way that maintains your agency in the experience.

And utilize movement and positioning as a way to manage pain and to encourage the baby through the birth canal.

Circles for Mamas at All Stages

Wild Grace Baby Gatherings

As a community offering to all of my clients, included in my birth doula package, I host a seasonal gathering for those who have birthed and welcome you to my home in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Building community is an important part of the support web as we enter early parenthood and I am honored to bring everyone together and hold that space.

  • A Circle is a way to build the village and nurture inner growth while in community — both of which are vital on the parenting journey.

Engaging in this work is an incredible way to hear what your heart has to say, build a deeper connection with yourself (and your external relationships), and feel nourished, grounded and at peace. It can be profoundly liberating.

    In Circle we:

    • Join together with 8-10 other women weekly

    • Do a short grounding meditation to arrive and create a sacred space

    • Build safety, confidentiality and a space of non-judgment into the group through guidelines

    • Introduce a prompt that invites sharing from a deep place

    • Listen to each other and share what feels authentic to each of us

    • Give and receive empathy and validation for wherever you are on your journey

    • And more

  • Our reflection circles are rooted in authentic sharing, non-judgment and empathy.

Circles that embrace all stages of motherhood (from pre-conception to moms of school-age kids) mean you’ll find other mamas moving through similar + different experiences to you. It all belongs and is supportive.

No one has to do this alone.

    • 5- to 6-week cycles

    • multi-stage support: whether you are pregnant, in early postpartum or further into motherhood, we’re all here to witness each other in the human joys and struggles of raising little ones

    • come as you are — your bare face/tears/smiles/whole selves are welcome here

  • Our Circles will begin as soon as we have enough mamas (8-10) to create the experience.

Circles are either virtual or in-person on the west side of Los Angeles starting in 2025.

Tell us more about you, what stage of motherhood you are in + your availability and we will let you know as soon as your Circle is ready.

“You are invaluable to me and I’m so happy you are going to be there to help guide me and this little guy into the world. I feel so calm and supported both for the birth and for having you be a part of it.” — Sara B. (Santa Monica, CA)

Why Hire a Doula?

Since the dawn of time, women have supported other women in childbirth. Whether it was a neighbor or a family member, nurturing, empathetic care was provided by a female companion, easing a birthing person’s journey through this wild, embodied adventure. But, there were a couple of other things women had going for them before modern medicine…

The Wild Grace Philosophy

I believe we, as humans, have an animal sense when it comes to birth. It is in our bodies. But, in today’s society, where we praise structure, order and control over the wilderness that is birth, we have become detached from our instinctual knowing — or simply, we don’t know how to trust it.

My work is to help you connect back to your body, so that you know how to listen when birth tells you what it needs. And to help you tap into your intuition — the inner voice that knows exactly what’s right for each of us.

Both instincts and intuition can help us move through the journey of birth and parenthood from a place of alignment and intention, helping us feel confident and clear (and also okay when we aren’t confident and clear). And the transformative journey can truly feel meaningful. This is true whether you birth at home in a hospital birth and have a vaginal birth or a cesarean birth. All are welcome here.

Whether I work with you as a doula, you join our Mama Circles, your instincts and inner knowing will be nurtured and expanded. You are the expert in your own life. I’m here to walk alongside you in conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting or any other rite of passage to help you build tenderness, resilience to welcome the unknown with curiosity, trust and a full heart.
